I’d been meaning to take a walk deep into Mount Pleasant, and I finally got the chance today on what was probably one of the best fall days we’ll have this year. My 90-minute trip solidified my belief that Mount Pleasant is a top five underrated and underknown neighborhood in the district.
You can follow my path on the Google map embedded after the jump.
- This drum circle happens every Sunday afternoon. Today, they played for at least three hours.
- A fall-colored rainbow of houses on a quaint block of 19th Street.
- Leaves starting to turn on Park Road as you walk toward Rock Creek Park.
- A chicken statue made of metal scraps on 19th Street.
- Probably the best use of old call boxes I’ve ever seen.
- A wall mural outside of House of Mercy on Klingle Road.
- Brown Street Market. Aptly named.
